To Buffy or not to Buffy... that is the question

So I'm thinking about starting a re-watch of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Why, you ask?

Do I have an extraordinary amount of free time on my hands? Am I lacking a good supernatural high-school era television show in my life? Do I miss seeing my old pal Sarah Michelle Gellar's face on television?

No, my friend. I have a full load of television shows, a podcast, blog, and am in the middle of writing three novels. I am not suffering from a severe or even mild case of boredom. My supernatural dance card is very full this fall (Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Supernatural, The Walking Dead). And thanks to the tractor beam that is the CW I am seeing SMG in the flesh once a week in Ringer.

So why oh why do I want to re-watch 105 hours of television I have seen no less than a dozen times already?

Let me break it down for you. You know that feeling you get when you hear a song that you used to love? That warm, fuzzy, nostalgia of the days of yore...

That's the feeling I get when I watch Buffy. It's like hanging with my old bestie I haven't seen in years, and picking up right where we left off. For me, it's so much more than a sci-fi show about an ass kicking cheerleader. It's funny and heartwarming, snarky and sincere, all of the things that make for a great tv show. The Scooby gang (Buffy & her brigade of do-gooders) have a way of sucking you into their world, making you feel like you're part of the group while rooting them on against the latest big bad. It had a unique way of making you care about even the most minute of characters, and sometimes, even sympathizing with the bad guy. All while watching Buffy maneuver high school, friends, and of course... love. Becuase buried beneath the super strong warrior of the night is a chick, a teenage chick who wants someone to hold hands with in the graveyard. And does. A few times.

Good shows eclipse time. You can watch them wherever, whenever, and they still do what they came to do - entertain us. Make us feel good. So in the words of Buffy... It is so on.

Yes, it is another blog you'll have to go to, and you'll have to click your mouse a couple extra times (5000 clicks burns two calories, FYI) -- but until we start generating some ad revenue, it'll have to do.  Relax, you won't have to go hunting the web for it -- we've provided a link for your convenience.

As always, The Moxie Podcast is full of explicit content and other interesting stuff.
